There is an app for everything these days, we all know that! Today I want to narrow down the topic of
apps to just the ones I use to help me in my mystery shopping side hustle.
1. First and foremost, a calendar app. This can be extremely helpful in keeping track of what shops
you have scheduled for which days. Even if you are a pen and paper kind of person, like I am,
having it in the palm of your hand where you can easily pull it up and see what’s going on can be
invaluable in helping you stay organized.
2. A notes app is another that I use quite often. Sometimes, I use the notes app to take notes
before I go in to do the shop, so I remember everything I am supposed to do during the shop.
Other times, I use the notes app to take notes during a shop, so I can remember things that I
need to enter into the report after I have completed the shop. The nice thing about these first
two apps is that most phones come with them already installed, so there is no further work
needed to get it all set up!
3. This next one is my lifeline in mystery shopping! A voice recording app. I record almost every
shop that I complete to make sure that I do not miss anything. I simply turn it on and then place it in a
pocket or hold it in my hand (if the shop allows) during the shop to make sure that I catch
everything in the conversations that I have so my reports can be as accurate as possible.
Seriously, it is a life (or, at least, money) saver in this business!
4. A mileage tracker. The cool thing about having a side business is the tax write-offs that you can
do during tax season. The mileage you go to complete a shop is one of the write-offs that you
can do, so having a mileage tracker can be very helpful come tax season.
5. Sometimes while mystery shopping, companies require you to know the exact that something
takes place. This is especially true with drive-thru and other restaurant shops. They want to
know the time down to the second. So, an app or widget that shows the exact time down to the
second that you can screenshot to keep track of the time is extremely helpful!
Those are the five apps that I find most helpful while I am doing my mystery shopping. I would love to
hear if you can think of others that would help!
